Belle Isle Murals - Clark Gas Station - Schoolcraft

In the Middle of September I was sought out and Commissioned by a Gas Station owner in Schoolcraft, Detroit named Sunny. He saw me painting a mural of RoboCop on E Grand Blvd next to the Detroit Grass Station Dispensory, and wanted me to paint something interesting or at least lively for his inside shop
So we came together and brainstormed some ideas of how the walls and the inside experience could feel more expansive rather than like an claustrophobic snack area.
After some consulting we came to the conclusion that it could use a colorful landscape.

Because he wanted to keep the paintings Detroit themed, I thought what better landscape then the shores of Belle Isle!

One of as a beach where bikini babes and summer sun glass dudes would play and mingle.

The second a Belle isle scene, underneath a shady tree, looking out at the amabassador bridge between Detroit and Windsor, Canada.

Everything went well except when the moment came for the bikini babes and sunglass dudes the owner descided he just wanted to showcase his select products:

Arizona Tea, Faygo, Ice Cream, Donuts, and Slushees!
Not exactly what I wanted for the piece but I learned how to work with clients efficiently at the time and the incredible importance of using contracts early on. It was a success and a great learning experience!
